After nearly five months of continuous efforts by the technical team, an ultra-thin high-precision circular knife with a thickness of only 0.1mm has successfully passed internal testing. Samples have been delivered to three precision electronic material customers for trial use. The launch of this new product marks a significant step forward for Mingbai in the field of ultra-thin precision circular knife R&D and manufacturing, and lays a solid technical foundation for the company to explore the high-end electronic material slitting market.
Targeting the Slitting Needs of High-End Electronic Materials
With the rapid development of consumer electronics, semiconductor packaging, optical films, and other industries, the demand for ultra-thin precision slitting knives is growing rapidly. High-end electronic materials such as polarizers, ITO films, copper foil, and aluminum foil place extremely high demands on knife thickness, precision, cutting edge sharpness, and wear resistance. Traditional ultra-thin circular knives are prone to edge deformation, micro-chipping, and excessive burrs on cut edges during continuous operation, and have long relied on imports. After conducting in-depth research at several electronic material processing enterprises, the Mingbai R&D team officially initiated the project at the end of 2025, determined to overcome the manufacturing difficulties of ultra-thin circular knives.
Multiple Technical Breakthroughs Achieving 0.1mm Thickness
The difficulty in manufacturing ultra-thin circular knives lies in maintaining high hardness, good toughness, and excellent flatness at an extremely thin thickness. The R&D team achieved technical breakthroughs in three areas. First, material selection: using ultra-fine grain powder metallurgy high-speed steel with a grain size grade of 12 or higher, providing an excellent foundation for the blade's performance. Second, precision grinding process: the newly introduced ultra-precision CNC grinding machine, combined with custom-made grinding wheels, enabled stable processing of 0.1mm thick blades, with thickness tolerance controlled within ±0.002mm. Third, stress relief process: through multiple tempering cycles and cryogenic treatment, internal stress in the ultra-thin blade was effectively eliminated, ensuring no deformation during use.

Excellent Test Data and Customer Anticipation
In internal simulation tests, the new ultra-thin circular knife continuously slit 0.05mm thick copper foil for over 50,000 meters with no visible edge wear. The burr height on the cut edge was less than 2μm, and flatness remained within 0.003mm. In extreme bending tests, the blade could withstand 30-degree elastic bending without plastic deformation or fracture, demonstrating excellent toughness.
The product has been delivered to three precision electronic material enterprises for on-machine testing. The technical manager of one customer commented, "The precision and durability of Mingbai's ultra-thin circular knife exceeded our expectations. It can completely replace the imported products we are currently using. If subsequent batch validation proves stable, we will fully switch over."
